I’ve been rewriting this introduction every day for the past week, trying to find the perfect way to start this post.
It’s strange. I’m not a writer by any means. I don’t read books effortlessly, and half the time I feel like I’m stumbling over my own vocabulary. But as I type this, imperfect as it might be, I feel a joy that is hard to put into words.
For a bit of context, dear Reader, I’ve been wanting to start a blog for years now. Unfortunately, I’m both a perfectionist and a procrastinator, so I kept putting it off. I’ve rewritten this website from scratch more times than I can count. And after all that, I still don’t feel ready.
But perfect is the enemy of good, and I’m tired of waiting.
So, let’s skip the formalities.
Hello, I’m Nori, and this is the first post of my new blog series:
“But… what’s BLANKSPACE Weekly?” I hear you ask.
And to explain that, I’ll have to guide you through a bit of backstory.
What is this place?
You might be wondering what “BLANKSPACE” actually means. Honestly, it’s kinda hard to explain, but… to me, it’s an empty canvas. A space I can slowly fill it with colors, ideas, projects, and stuff that matters to me.
It’s somewhere between a personal site, portfolio, and an experimental garden. I’ve taken a ton of inspiration from Nekoweb and Neocities. If you’re unfamiliar with those, definitely check them out!
This series, BLANKSPACE Weekly, is what you could consider a newsletter-esque blog. With many more features and flexibility, of course.
This is my website, after all… Which means I get to decide how things work around here :)
It’s going to be a weekly(ish) collection of whatever’s on my mind. I’ve never really been good at working on long-term projects consistently, so this is my excuse to sort of… challenge myself.
The original plan was to release this on January 7th, but alas, life (exams) happened, so here we are on January th instead.
Close enough, right?
A bit about me
In case you don’t know me yet, here’s the quick rundown.
- My (nick)name is Nori
- I’m 22 years old
- I’m from Italy
I’ve been studying Computer Science for a few years now, and I’m currently working as a freelance web developer while juggling university too (it’s about as fun as it sounds). I’m really into VR/XR, web development, and TECHNOLOGY! in general, so expect a lot of content on those topics in the future.
Also, towards the end of last year, I accidentally got access to some internal Meta stuff, and since then I’ve started to post on my Xitter about my findings. If you’re curious, definitely check it out lol
Let’s get comfortable
While we’re at it, I want to ask you a small, completely optional favor. I want you to feel like I’m talking directly to you, and since this is my blog and I get to decide how things work, I’ll let you choose whether you want me to call you by name in future posts.
So… how should I address you?
And fyi, this kind of data is never gonna leave your device. I won’t know what name you pick. It’s just for you. :)
What’s next?
Well, I don’t really have a master plan yet. But I know I want this space to be as true to myself as possible. This means no secrets, no filters, no pretending to be someone I’m not.
I’ll probably share some project updates, random tech thoughts, tutorials, life stuff… whatever I feel like talking about. The point is just to share things I actually care about.
Regardless, thank you, Reader, for being here for the first one.
See you next week! 👋
